From March 27 to 30, 2025, audiences in Aachen will experience a performance that merges hip-hop culture with profound questions about the dynamics of power.
Under the direction of choreographer Fabien Prioville, five highly skilled hip-hop dancers from Southeast Asia come together. They collaborated in Düsseldorf to create a project that uses “Power Moves”—originally known in breakdancing as impressive, powerful movements—as a starting point for artistic exploration.
The choreography delves into the relationship between power, the body, and movement. It examines how power manifests—visibly or invisibly—in various contexts, from ceremonial traditions to competitive battlefields. At the same time, it explores how these dynamics can be playfully reimagined and positively transformed.
Power Moves – Restage bridges historical forms of movement with contemporary hip-hop culture. Through a powerful performance, the dancers will investigate how bodies move within power-laden contexts and how these movements can be reinterpreted in an artistic framework.
